DAY 01

Airport-Sigiriya

Upon arrival at the airport you will be welcomed by your guide. You drive past rice fields and vegetable plantations to Sigiriya. Just before Sigiriya, you climb the ancient Dambulla cave temple from the 3rd century BC, a UNESCO World Heritage site high up on a rock. The fantastic murals and countless Buddhist statues in the five adjacent caves are really impressive. They look mischievous monkeys and have a great view of the surroundings. Afterwards, check into your hotel in Sigiriya and relax the rest of the day.

DAY 02

Sigiriya

Early in the morning, visit the remains of the Royal Palace, built in the 10th century. Halfway up you will see the cave with the famous paintings of the cloud girls. Admire the lions’ paws, discover the palace ruins and enjoy the view. In the afternoon, you will enjoy an exciting walk through Sri Lanka’s steppe. You can look at rice and vegetable plantations and your guide will tell you everything you need to know about cultivation methods. Besides, you have the opportunity to admire the wild flora. See different birds and with a bit of luck even wild elephants.

DAY 03

Sigiriya-Udawattakele-Kandy

After breakfast, drive to Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings. Arrived in Kandy, visit the city and visit, among other places, the famous Buddhist dental temple, which is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and contains a dental lantern of Buddha. In the afternoon, go for a nature walk through the Udaewattakele Nature Reserve. Famous for its wildlife, the reserve offers a breathtaking natural experience right at the gates of Kandy. With a bit of luck, you can see all monkeys, deer, porcupines, lizards, and birds living in Sri Lanka.

DAY 04

Kandy

Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to Jeep in the Knuckles Mountains to Meemure. The hike begins in the small village and leads up into the local forest. On the way you can enjoy a picnic and the beautiful view. You will see several spectacular waterfalls and climb up to amazing mountain ranges with stunning views over the landscape. Note: The weather can change quickly, so wear weatherproof clothing. In the early evening you reach your camp. They eat dinner and then relax at the camp fire. The night is spent in the tent.

DAY 05

Kandy- Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, the descent into the valley begins. They come by the Secret Service of the last King of Sri Lanka, Wickrama Rajasinghe from Kandy. He was caught there by the British army and Sri Lanka became a British colony. During the descent you have a beautiful view into the valley and see exotic birds, lizards and squirrels. There is a picnic lunch. Later in the day you will reach Bomure. There you will be picked up in the jeep and continue the short distance back to Kandy. Your chauffeur will take you to Nuwara Eliya. At Nuwara Eliya you can check into your hotel and enjoy the free time.

DAY 06

Nuwara Eliya

Early in the morning before sunrise you drive to Horton Plains National Park. At the entrance you meet your Guide and after a short guide starts the hike. The national park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site for its flora and fauna. They walk through a beautiful landscape, secluded villages and rice fields. Later you will reach a village, where you will stay overnight. You will get to know your hosts today, a Sri Lankan family. Together, you buy on the local market and prepare your own dinner under supervision.

DAY 07

Nuwara Eliya-Belihuloya

After breakfast, you will pass the Kinchigune Nature Trail. This diverse path, with a length of about 6 km, begins at the River Garden Resort in Belihuloya, from where it runs parallel to the Auenwald and the Belihuloya River. On the path you will be able to make your way through rice fields, rivers and along local village houses with their extensive vegetable patches. An ideal opportunity to learn about local agriculture and simple village life. On your way you will also be witnessing various beautiful bird and butterfly species as well as charming waterfalls. The path ends where the Belihuloya River meets the Samanalawewa Reservoir. In the afternoon, an exciting canoe trip takes you to the Samanelwewa Reservoir. Surrounded by mountains you will see a fascinating variety of trees, valleys and waterfalls.

DAY 08

Belihul Oya-Udawalawe National Park

They leave the mountains behind them and go to Udawalawe. The Udawalawe National Park is known for the large number of elephants that live freely in the park, exotic bird species and its beautiful scenery. In the afternoon take a jeep safari through the National Park. A guide accompanies you, helps you to spot animals and tells you interesting details about the flora and fauna in the park. Then we go to the hotel.

DAY 09

Udawalawe-National Park-Sinharaja

In the morning, the ride takes us across winding roads into the Sinharaja rainforest, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sinharaja is home to 95 per cent of all bird, butterfly and reptile species as well as mammals of Sri Lanka.
Check into your Eco-Lodge and enjoy the tropical atmosphere. In the evening we go on an adventurous hike through the rainforest

DAY 10

Sinharaja rainforest-Hikkaduwa

A further hike through the rain forest is on. With some luck, you will see many exotic birds, monkeys, squirrels and other native animals. There are many leeches in the wet area, so you will be protected with knee bumps. After the hike, drive to Galle. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gallefort. The Dutch fort spills European charm and is the perfect place to stroll. In addition to museums and art galleries, there are plenty of restaurants, boutiques and jewelry stores in the small streets. Afterwards we will continue to Hikkaduwa to your hotel.

DAY 11

Hikkaduwa-Chilaw

After breakfast, drive to Colombo. In Colombo you can take a city tour. Colombo is a busy and lively metropolis and the economic capital of Sri Lanka. You will visit historic attractions such as the Independence Square, the old Parliament and Galle Face Green, a park right by the sea. Almost all the buildings of the city were built during the British colonial period and are now elegantly renovated without losing the original charm. Colombo offers many top restaurants, night clubs, bars and shopping. The night is spent at the beach hotel in Chilaw.

DAY 12 – 13

Chilaw

After breakfast, drive to Colombo. In Colombo you can take a city tour. Colombo is a busy and lively metropolis and the economic capital of Sri Lanka. You will visit historic attractions such as the Independence Square, the old Parliament and Galle Face Green, a park right by the sea. Almost all the buildings of the city were built during the British colonial period and are now elegantly renovated without losing the original charm. Colombo offers many top restaurants, night clubs, bars and shopping. The night is spent at the beach hotel in Chilaw.

DAY 14

Chilaw-Airport
