Was the first capital of Sri Lanka until the end of the 10th century AD and is still revered today as a holy site. One of the largest sanctuaries in the city is the spectacular Dagobas – half-spherical structures built of bricks. The white Ruvanveliseya-Dagoba (built in the second century BC) is almost 100 m high. The highest of all Dagobas in Anuradhapura is the approximately 110 m high Jetawanarama-Dagoba. The Thuparama-Dagoba is considered to be the oldest Buddhist building in Anuradhapura. In it is to be the right key bones of Buddha.
The most important goal of every pilgrim is however the holy Boddhibaum. According to legend, an offshoot of the tree under which Buddha found his enlightenment was planted from India in Anuradhapura as early as 2250 years ago and is regarded as the oldest tree in the world. Since 1981 Anuradhapura belongs to the world cultural heritage of UNESCO.
Then continue to Nilaweli where you will stay overnight.

DAY 03

After breakfast, explore Trincomalee on a city tour. You will visit the main attractions such as Fort Frederick and the Koneswaram-Hindu Temple. The Thiru Koneswaram Temple is idyllically situated on a landmark and is one of the five most important Shiva sanctuaries in Sri Lanka. At the end of the temple is the rock cliff Swarmi Rock, which is also known as Lovers Leap. In the year 1687 a Dutch bureaucracy from the love affair should have fallen into the depths.
